Questions & Answers

When should I use a purifier bottle instead of a filter?

Use a purifier bottle when viruses are a concern or you want an all‑in‑one solution. They’re excellent for travel, front‑country taps, and mixed sources where you want extra protection.

How hard is the press and how long does it take?

Expect a firm two‑handed press on stable ground. Most bottles take seconds per cycle and produce a single serving, making them convenient for solo use.

Do I need to prefilter cloudy water?

Yes, strain silty water through a bandana or coffee filter first. This preserves flow and extends cartridge life by keeping grit out of the media.

Can purifier bottles freeze?

Like other cartridges, freezing when wet can damage them. Keep the unit in your jacket or sleeping bag in freezing conditions and follow storage guidance.

What spares should I carry?

Bring the cap gasket and a small cloth for prefiltering. For long trips, pack a spare cartridge or backup purification tablets as a fail‑safe.
