Questions & Answers

How often should I backflush?

Backflush whenever flow drops or after silty water. On long trips, a daily quick flush keeps performance high and prevents hard clogs.

How do I store a filter between trips?

Rinse with clean water, sanitize per instructions, then air‑dry completely. Store in a cool, dry place and avoid freezing when wet.

How do I sanitize at season’s end?

Use a mild bleach solution or manufacturer‑approved sanitizer, then thoroughly rinse and dry. This prevents biofilm growth during storage.

When is it time to replace a cartridge?

When flow cannot be restored with proper cleaning, or after the rated service life. Follow the maker’s guidance based on volume treated and conditions.

Can freezing ruin a filter?

Yes. Freezing while wet can crack fibers and compromise performance. If you suspect a freeze, replace the element to be safe.
